Obituary – Dorris Clouse

On Thursday, June 1, 2023, Dorris Clouse, 93, peacefully passed away in Licking, Mo. He was born on August 13, 1929. He graduated from Licking High School where he was a talented basketball player. Upon graduation, he married Arlene Kissiar, on December 18, 1948.

He lived his life in Licking where he and Arlene owned a trucking company and farmland. Together they raised their sons, Charles and Michael, and became a part of the community. Dorris was a founding member of the Licking Rodeo Committee. He and others on the committee were instrumental in getting the annual PRCA Rodeo to take place in Licking. For decades, you would always see him at the Rodeo, working the gates to let competitors in and out of the ring, or helping ensure everything was going smoothly for the cowboys.

He is predeceased by his parents, William and Lela Clouse, and granddaughter, Dawn. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; sons, Charles (Sandra) and Michael; along with three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He stressed the values of working hard and taking care of your family. Throughout mid-Missouri, people have stories of Dorris Clouse, which will live on. He will be remembered as always having his cowboy hat nearby and a joke or prank at the ready. He will be remembered and missed dearly by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 5, from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at Fox Chapel in Licking. A private graveside with family only will take place in Boone Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Dorris. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fox Funeral Home.
