Obituary – Rosa M. Young
Rosa Marie (Blake) Young left this world on August 1, 2023, at the age of eighty-eight years. She was born on December 20, 1934, in Phelps County, Mo., to Eugene and Barbara (Buckner) Blake.
She was united in marriage to Carl Young on November 3, 1953. They traveled to Mississippi to get married. They honeymooned traveling across the southern coast of the United States.
Throughout her life she was a devoted minister’s wife. She traveled from church to church, building relationships that will never end. She always said, “God first, family second, and then all else will follow.”
Rosa loved her family, friends, and farm life. Her passion in life was growing flowers. She could take a wilted plant, give it loving care and make the plant strong.
Rosa is survived by her loving children: Brenda Rickard and husband Chuck, Rhonda Tomnitz and husband Jim, and Mark Young, all of Salem; grandchild: Jamie Tomnitz and wife Fran; great-grandchildren: Mason and Cooper Tomnitz; extended family and dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband: Carl Young; her parents: Eugene and Barbara Blake; and all her brothers and sisters.
Rosa will be forever missed but fondly remembered by those who loved her most.
