STORM SIREN TESTING

Testing of the Licking storm sirens is scheduled to take place at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 21.

GUN AND QUILT RAFFLE

The Fleet Reserve Association FRA Branch 364 is holding a Gun, Quilt and Large Ceramic Planter Raffle. The raffles are in support of college scholarships. For more information call David Herndon at 417-967-0661.

DEMOCRATIC CLUB OF PHELPS COUNTY MEETING

The Democratic Club of Phelps County will hold a General Meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Phelps County Courthouse Community Meeting Room on Thursday, September 21. All are welcome to attend.

UNITED JOY WOMEN’S CONFERENCE

RIDE FOR A REASON & POKER RUN

The 1st Annual Ride for a Reason & Poker Run for G-Ma Pam’s Rack Pack will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30. Line up is at 9 a.m.; ride begins at 10 a.m. at Boiling Springs Resort. FREE E-WASTE RECYCLING

A free electronic waste recycling event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 603 Main Street, Cabool, on Saturday, September 30. For more information contact 417-247-7875.

“ABCs OF MEDICARE”

The Phelps Health EnrollU team will host an “ABCs of Medicare” class to answer questions on the different Medicare plans prior to enrollment. Classes are free and open to the public at 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, October 2, in the Private Dining Room 2 at Phelps Health. Refreshments will be provided. The Knights of Columbus are hosting a Fish Fry from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, at St. John the Baptist church in Licking.

FREE MOVIE NIGHT

Intercounty Electric Cooperative is hosting a free movie night on Saturday, October 7, at Old City Park, Licking. “Hocus Pocus” will be shown, beginning at dark.

CRUISE-IN FOR THE KIDS

Piney River Fraternal Order of Eagles 3911 will hold the annual Texas County Cruise-In for the Kids from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Simple Grow parking lot, Houston, on Saturday, October 7. Proceeds go to Shop with a Hero. Classic cars, trucks and motorcycles welcome. Dash plaques, door prizes, silent auction, food and craft vendors. For more info call 417-260-5551.

60TH ANNUAL ROSE HOLLAND TROUT DERBY

The 60th Annual Rose Holland Trout Derby will be held at Montauk State Park on Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8. An Old Time Cruise-In Car Show will begin at 4 p.m. at the Searcy Building on Friday, October 6. Nature Bingo will also be held on Friday at 6 p.m. at the campground amphitheater.

OZARK FESTIVAL OF QUILTS SHOW

The Piece & Plenty Quilt Guild will host the Ozark Festival of Quilts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 7 and from 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, at Rolla Middle School, 1111 Soest Rd., Rolla. OZARKS OLDER IRON CLUB FALL SHOW

The Ozarks Older Iron Club Fall Show will be held Friday, October 13, and Saturday, October 14. There is free admission, free parking and fun for the whole family.

HAUNTING AT THE MILL

A Haunting at the Mill will be held at Montauk State Park on Saturday, October 21. Show times are 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. with a limit of 45 guests per show. See a presentation of history from a unique perspective! This is a family event.

SIDE-BY-SIDE RIDE FUNDRAISER

The Licking Rural Fire Department and the Licking Senior Center will hold a Side-by-Side Ride Fundraiser with line-up at 9:30 a.m. at the Licking Senior Center on Saturday, October 28. Lunch will be at Bo’s Hollow, and a sack lunch is an option.

MOTORCYCLE CRUISE-IN

The Motorcycle Cruise-In continues its 14th year, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sonic in Licking, Junction of Hwy. 63 & 32, the last Thursday of September, with a rain date the following Thursday. Bikes, trikes, prizes, friendly people and DJ “Lew” of “The Road Show” will be playing great tunes.

SUMMERSVILLE CHESS CLUB

Want to learn how to play chess? Avid player and need someone to play against? Come to the Summersville Library on Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to play the “Game of Kings.” All are encouraged to come and play. No need to sign up, just show up and have some fun!

CRAFT SHOW

There will be a craft show at the junction of Hwy. H and Hwy. 63 in Edgar Springs every second Saturday of the month.

OZARK MOUNTAIN AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

The Ozark Mountain Amateur Radio Club meets the third Saturday of each month, at noon at the Lone Star Annex, 114 W. Main St. in downtown Houston. SHERRILL TOWNSHIP

Sherrill Township meets at 5:30 p.m. every other Thursday at the township shed located at 11875 South 137, in Licking. The next meeting is September 21.

LYNCH TOWNSHIP

Lynch Township’s meetings are the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., at the Lynch Township Shed, 14472 Boiling Springs Road.

BOONE TOWNSHIP MEETING

Boone Township meets the second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Meeting is at the Township Shed, 16245 Highway AF, Licking.

TEXAS COUNTY TRANSPORTATION

Licking Bridge Builders has transportation available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To ride the bus, please make your appointment at least a day in advance by calling 573-674-3558 and talking with a volunteer.
